Legacy Planning Week 4: Final Wishes?

What might your final wishes be?

This is week 4 of a 4-week challenge called: Death Prep for Dummies. The most pain-free way to start planning for the inevitable.

This week is about speaking for yourself when you no longer can. Advance care planning helps your loved ones make decisions with confidence—not guesswork.

Consider:

  • Who do I trust to make medical or legal decisions on my behalf?

  • What types of treatments do I want—or not want—if I can’t speak for myself? Or if the inevitable happens and I die, do I have strong feelings about burial vs cremation?

  • How do I want to be remembered, celebrated, or honored?

  • What do I want my loved ones to know or hear one last time?

Prompt:
Draft your ideal memorial. Include as little or as much detail as you would like. Do you want to be buried? Cremated? Do you want your ashes scattered? Do you want there to be an open bar at your wake? You know the important things.

Actions:
Write down your top 3 wishes. Even if informal, they are powerful. Share them with at least one person you trust.

Deadline (no pun intended): Write out your wishes by Friday and share them by Sunday night.

That’s All Folks!
